Description:
The painting depicts mascot characters for the battalion and each company.
The Knight represents the battalion as a whole, known as the Vanguard Battalion and wields the Unit Insignia on his shield. Each company is represented by the following:
The Reapers: 62d Sapper Company
The Assassins: 569 Engineer Company MAC
Mac Attack(Bulldog): 576th Engineer Company MAC
The Renegades: HHC
The Rough Riders (Taz): FSC

The Mountains represent the unit's home of Fort Carson Colorado. The Castle is the insignia for the corps of engineers.

The painting was done ahead of the unit's deployment in 2009 to Bahgdad, Iraq which, after 3 months, was shifted to Kandahar, Afghanistan. This huge in theatre movement can be read about in the link.

Delta CSC Task Force 3-197th Fires Brigade (FA)

Task Force 3-197th Fires Brigade (FA) was the convoy security element for the larger Brigade mission in the Middle East, operating long and short haul escort missions from Camp Buehring, Kuwait to virtually every base in Iraq. The Task force was made up of New Hampshire National Guard artillery and support units, and was (and still is) the largest deployment in the state’s history.

CSC 4 / A Battery 1-487th FA BN (Animal)/ 29 IBCT

CSC 4 / A Battery 1-487th FA BN (Animal) of the 29 IBCT out of Oahu Hawaii commanded by CPT Timothy Spencer. The vehicles the convoy escort teams (CET) used at the time were originally the M1151 Armored HMMWV, and later the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles were used as the lead vehicles. As TF Koa, 1-299 CAV logged well over 10,000 miles and engaged in numerous contacts with the enemy.
